Just a tiny little problem with security…

I don’t understand why so many universities insist on using students’ social security numbers for their identification. It is also often very difficult to get an alternate ID number as universities are so accustomed to using them.

If it seems like it’s easier to use social security numbers to link to student names, financial information etc…that’s because it is. And if it’s easy for students and administrators, it’s easy for hackers.
